When my family adopted our dog from the shelter they gave us pet tabs. Is this a good vitiman for the dog or should i switch to another??
Also the dog is mostly potty trained (he goes every time we put him out) but he had one accident while we were in the house. My mom and i were literaly five feet away and all the sudden BOOM!
When we leave we put him in his room with the doggy gate up, and when we come back he has gone pee. We only leave him for an hour or hour and a half at the most. Some times he pees other times he goes 2 hours and doesnt pee. Is he upset cause we are leaving him so he pees?
Thing is know he can hold it because he sleeps in my bed and he never ever wakes me up to go potty in the night he has waited till morning.
Should we do crate training for a while? or just continue leaving him in his room??
We have had him for Five days, and he is a pomeranian about 5 years. Please answer all questions if you can!

Your dog may have peed in the house because of nerves. He is still adjusting to the new home.
Yes he should be crated. Dogs are sometimes anxious or nervous about being left alone and may potty in the house because of it.
Pet tabs.. most boxers honestly dont need vitamins, if they are healthy and eating a high quality diet. If this dog is abit underweight tho, or not eating well, the added vitamins may be beneficial to the dog.. it doesnt matter what brand they are.

I have always taken my boxers out for a little “relief” right after a meal and immediately after any play sessions in the house. If they get hyper because companuy comes then take them out right away. Praise them whenever they do ANYTHING outside. My dog is 7 years old and she still looks up at me for praise when she poops outside.

Dog Treat Training – Important Points
Positive reinforcement training through dog treats is something that dog trainers commonly resort to. Yes, the technique is just as simple as it sounds. But there are certain guidelines that need to be followed before your sweet puddle starts ruling your household with an iron paw. Those guidelines are:
Time Your Treat: The treat should be given within a few seconds of achieved reaction. Otherwise your pet may not be able to associate it with his response that is being appreciated.
Keep Your Commands Short: Dogs won’t understand long sentences. Don’t say “Fudge I know you are a good boy. I want you to sit for me now.” All that you would draw from Fudge is a blank stare. Keep your commands short like sit, stay, come and so on.

Would you ever take a cat to a training class like that? And yes, cats can be trained the same as boxers. So knowing that your cat could be trained the same as a dog, would you ever take your cat to a class to learn obedience or tricks?
Wow, really positive answers! I agree, I think it would bring a cat and owner closer, just like training a dog would. I don’t think many people think about that, though!
Does anyone know anywhere that offers those classes for cats?

I want to train it so it doesn’t end up like my cousin’s dog who jumps all over people and barks at everything. I want my dog to be my buddy so please hook me up with some sort of DVD to give me the basics of training my new dog right.

I haven’t really seen this question asked here before.
I’m interested in a trainer/class training for:
Pet/manners/CGC training:
Competition training for obedience/rally/agility: and
Working boxer dog training for field/ service/ protection boxers.
I know that there’s a lot of good and bad infornation posted here. I’m just curious as to what people’s thoughts and experiences are in training.

Comes down to the basics:
- How many personal boxers are titled/trained
- How many did you HELP train/title
- How many mentors, how many years under said mentor(s)
- Number of boxers worked with, variety of breeds
- Knowledge of NUMEROUS methods (not just one)
I do NOT look for degrees form any colleges or schools because i have yet to find a school/class that does a good job in training multiple methods on multiple breeds/dogs. They can be good STARTER courses but you learn best from a mentor or several in real life situations.

Training dog to use litter box?
