Where to Purchase Your Puppy
If you’re on this site, then you probably already made up your mind about purchasing a boxer. Now you might ask where I can get my very own boxer puppy. Well there are lots of available options for you to acquire your first boxer pet, but some of those you should really avoid.
Places to Look for Your Next Companion
The first place to go look for your puppy is a local dog shelter. Not only will you save some money, but you will also a life for a puppy and give him a home. Usually this process requires you to fill out an application which makes sure that you are eligible to own your own dog. Boxers have a fair amount of requirement that you must fulfill, mainly because of their size and need to exercise and run around.
Your number to choice is your local Boxer Breeder. Usually you will have to request a puppy ahead of time so you have the option to choose the Boxer puppy you want. Boxer puppies can be priced anywhere from 300 dollars up to 1300 and over. But you can visit the owners and if they are not a puppy mill, they will gladly show you around and you can be sure that your boxer puppy will grow up in a safe loving environment surrounded by people.
Places to Avoid
Not only you should avoid pet stores to buy your boxer, but it should be avoided for buying ANY kind of pet. If you’re wondering why, let me explain. The owners know that puppies can be very profitable if they buy them for cheap. Which means the boxers will be raised in puppy mills and kept in small cages. Unlike your local breeders, puppy mills do not care about the dogs, all they care about is profit. This leads to feeding the dog low quality food and keeping them in small cages.
Purchasing boxers online is a big no no. Not only do you not know the kind of environment your new boxer puppy grew up in, but you also face the possibility of getting scammed. Most of the online sellers will try to ship the dog over air like some product which can be stressful on a young puppy that was just taken away from his mother and shoved in a cage and sent over mail for hours in a loud noise environment.
So before you buy your boxer puppy, take a look at where you getting him/her from because it’s early stage of life will shape and determine the puppies’ personality.
